Do vehicles need blinkers?

Not enough people in America use blinkers while turning or switching lanes. I even see police officers breaking this law on occasions. The truth is that failing to use your turn signal is against the law but not heavily enforced. Everyone cries about heavy traffic, but most of them don’t obey the laws enough to say anything. These drivers add to the problem.
How many times in one day do you see someone failing to use their turn signal? If you would keep count you may be amazed at the problem. I bet more than half of all drivers don’t use their blinker enough. You might see a driver cut right in front of you, or as construction requires you to merge from two lanes to one and see many drivers wait until the last minute and move over without turn signals. You might even be waiting to pull out of a parking lot and watching a car turn in front of you. You could have went on if you had known the drivers was pulling in. You even see people not using turn signals at stop signs, red lights and just about anywhere you drive.
On the other hand some people go down the highway with their blinker on and no intention to switch lanes or exit. You may even see drivers have their turn signal on one side and switch lanes or turn to the other way. If you think about it we could save a lot of time by using turn signals properly. We can make a difference one person at a time. Start with yourself, then I am hopeful we can get cops to enforce this law more often.
Why do we even require turn signals? I think they are part of safety for drivers and pedestrians. Also they could allow drivers more time to prepare for actions the drivers are taking in front of them. Please start using your blinker it was installed for a reason.
