Car Dealerships - Turning the buying process into your favor
Posted by: info | December 30, 2006
Is it impossible to get a good deal from a car dealership? Don’t play games this time and get the better end of the deal.
In order to beat the car dealership games you first must get a low interest rate loan from outside the dealership. Go to a bank or financial institution that offers auto loans. Get pre-approved before buying and don’t forget to compare offers from other banks before getting the loan.
Next you should select the car you want to buy. If you like, spend a few days and go out and test drive cars you are interested in and avoid getting sold by the salesperson. Kinda hard to do but you can do it. Have an excuse prepared so you can leave in peace or go buy yourself and tell the salesperson you will bring in your better half. The salesperson will almost have to understand and send you on your way. Don’t get talked into taking the car home to the better half or keeping it for a few days either.
Now you can select the vehicle you like the most. Pick out 1 and figure out your color and options you want. A good way to see what the car has available is by visiting the manufactures website.
The next thing you will want to do is find at least 2 dealerships who carry the car with the options you are looking for. Important visit the websites of the dealerships you are looking at to see what the car is selling for online before going to the dealership. Do some research on what a good deal would be for that car. Internet, newspaper ads are a couple of ways to research price.
Now you are ready to make the sale. With your loan papers in hand go to the dealership and make an offer on the car you are looking for. Don’t negotiate, just tell the salesperson your offer and leave him your phone number. Don’t buy the car at this time unless he says ok. Also tell the salesperson that you are making another offer at the other dealership you are comparing.
Relax, one or both of the car dealerships will contact you within hours trying to negotiate. Tell them you’re not interested and stick to your original price. At least one of the dealerships will more than likely call you back within 24 hrs. and ask you to come pick up your new car. You will now have the interest rate you are looking for, the car and best of all the price you wanted to pay. You are not really sticking it to the dealership. You are just turning the process into your favor.
If for some reason nobody returns your call. Find a couple of more dealerships near you to compare. Please don’t fall into anything they have to offer. You must be confident and firm in order to get the deal of a lifetime. It is not only real hard but it is very costly to trade in a car in which you took a bad deal. You may share this with anybody you know who is going to buy a car soon. They will be very thankful you shared this valuable money saving ideas. After all I was a salesperson for more than 8 years. People who beat the system frustrated me. They always won but in the long run I did get paid and was happy I made the sale.
