Small town America cost more

Is it true? Can it be possible for small town America to cost more to live in than big cities. I live in a small town near Dallas Texas and have come to realize that things cost more in a smaller community. Here some examples.
Gas prices are $2.40 vs. $2.15 in Dallas. My water rates are higher here than anywhere else I have lived. My moms water bill is $125 and mine $115 a month. Prior to living here my water bill was never over $40. All of my family and friends living nearby pay less for water than I do. If you have read any of my previous post you will realize that any moving violations or traffic tickets cost more here as well. I ended up paying more than $250 for a seat belt ticket that would have cost $100 less about 15 minutes away.
The bigger problem is the schools systems are very short on money. My kids had to start 15 days later than normal due to lack of funds the school district had. The road systems are filled with pot holes and dirt roads. Why doesn’t our city have any money? They are charging a lot more money than the bigger cities for water, sewer, trash and tickets yet they don’t have any money to help the school districts or city workers out. I don’t understand. Maybe the lack of taxes they have coming in could play a factor. I sure hope this can change.
Outside of all these problems I have been complaining about, I love living here and my family does to. Everyone knows you and seems to care about your situations. We can help those in need on a one on one basis. Best of all life is a little slower here. Most people are not in a hurry. They walk, ride and drive a little slower. So for me it is worth every extra penny. However, I still can’t understand why we pay so much more than big cities for the essentials we need. It just don’t make any sense.

Nope! It is cheaper to live in a small town. Rent is hundreds less.
