Don’t Slam on the Brakes!

Posted by: info | April 25, 2007

It has been tried and tested that police officers are more likely to ticket a driver who slams on the brakes after passing a cop. This seems to be a natural reaction. Sometimes people do it, even though they are not speeding. So why are cops more likely to pull you over for slamming on the brakes?

This should be an obvious simple answer. It makes you look more suspiscious to stomp on the brakes. A lot of times cops are not monoriting speeds or using the radar gun. These officers could be doing other task or simply going on call. The only reason they would stop a driver is for weird activity. The brakes definitely fall into this category.

The next time you pass a police officer don’t panic. Even if you are speeding, the chances of getting a ticket or less if the brakes are not applied. If you don’t have anything to hide or be afraid of, cops will leave you alone. Officers are trained to spot suspiscious activity. They also have a keen sense when something is wrong. I am very glad we have such great trained officers. I think they are the best and most fair in the world.

So if you get ticketed after applying the brakes, don’t blame anyone other than yourself. You probably will see higher auto insurance rates as well. In addition to this, you will probably have to invest a some time for court or to see the judge. The best advice I can if is to not speed. Then you will have nothing to worry about, and be a lot safer.
