Hit and Run Accidents

Posted by: info | April 27, 2007

Each day there are accidents involving hit and run drivers. For whatever reason some drivers think the can get away with this criminal offense. They are wrong and should be punished to the maximum offense the law allows and lose their driver’s license forever. America is getting tougher and improving techniques and technology to solve more of these cases on a daily basis.

Most hit and run drivers try and escape the scene immediately before anyone can see them. They may be drinking alcohol, doing drugs, have warrants or don’t carry auto insurance to name a few reasons. None of these are a valid excuse for leaving the scene. You should never run from an accident under any circumstance. This only makes things much worse on you.

You could end up with multiple felonies and injure someone badly. This could end up in death for a victim and can be considered manslaughter by the driver. You will have to live with this forever and damage your personal live. If you help and render aid, you are less likely to face criminal charges. You will also feel a lot better.

If you are a victim of one of these hit and run accidents seek help immediately. You should call 911 right away. Tell the dispatch where you are and let them know if you are injured. If you don’t have a cell phone have someone else get help for you if possible.

After the incident is all over and your health is better, seek to press charges on the driver. Give the police all the information they need to make an arrest. If you have uninsured motorist protection your insurance company will get your vehicle fixed. Make sure you get photos prior to having the damage fixed and allow the police officers to do a complete investigation your automobile. This should be done completely before having any repairs done. When the police officers make an arrest you can file the claim under the driver’s insurance.

Trust in our system and let the investigators do there work. We have good forces and technology to help track down these unwanted and criminal drivers.
