Almost Everything can be Insured.

Posted by: info | May 21, 2007

Insurance is now much more than protecting your property. Everyone is aware of traditional insurance such as auto, home, life, heath and dental. Americans are now buying insurance on body parts, pets, motorcycles, boats, atv and rv. The prices, investments and possible expenses regarding these items have went up so much that buying insurance or protection just makes sense.

Insurable things extends a lot further than this. Many sports stars, singers, actors and celebrities are now insuring body parts. They are insuring arms, legs, fingers, voice and anything else that would keep them from continuing their performance.

Some college athletes that are expected to turn pro are now buying these insurance plans. If an injury keeps them from playing at the pro level, they would receive money and benefits they would have otherwise lost without the coverage.

Singers may carry insurance on their voice or vocal cords. Famous drum, guitar or other instrumental players may insure their fingers, hands or feet. An actor or actress may have similar coverages on their body. With Insurance coverage on their body, voice and other areas, these celebrities will be able to replace their income and maintain their current lifestyle, if an unexpected tragedy occurs to them.

Many other major purchases such as a TV, lawn mower, furniture, appliances, computers and almost anything of value offers an extended warranty or protection plan (similar to insurance). The manufacture or store will replace or repair this item in the event it breaks down due to mechanical failure or normal defect. These protection plans are different from store to store in what they cover and replace. Each plan should be read very carefully before buying. The terms and conditions can come back to disappoint if you fail to understand the complete plan details.

Insurance is very important and needed on many items. However, some of the products and services we buy, don’t need any extra protection. Some items are not likely to break down or aren’t worth spending extra money on. What will we insure next?
