Can a driver refuse to give out insurance info.?

A big fear for many drivers during an accident is dealing with an irate, rude or uncooperative person. Both drivers should exchange information with each other during an accident.
First of all a police officer should be called out to the seen of any accident. If the city can’t or will not send an officer to the seen of an accident, both drivers should exchange insurance information, telephone numbers, drivers license numbers, license plates and record witnesses. Taking photos can come in handy as well.
If a driver refuses to give out this information, then report this to the police right away. It is against the law in some states for refusing to exchange information. This has been considered leaving the seen of an accident in certain situations.
A driver should report the accident right away. Call the insurance agent or company immediately. This will let the driver know that the insurance is valid and provide a head start if the accident is in question.
