An Auto Insurance Settlement

Posted by: info | June 27, 2007

Many drivers settle too quick with auto insurance companies. These drivers either like the settlement or think they have to take it. There are other drivers who need money so bad they take the settlement as soon as possible. These drivers are sometimes losing out on a lot of money. It is in an auto insurance company’s best interest to settle promptly with a driver.

An insurance company would like to settle with the driver as fast and little as possible. Auto insurance companies know the longer it takes them to settle a claim, the more like the driver will call an attorney or seek help for additional damages. Every driver has the right to get their vehicle fixed where they want.

A lot of insurance companies will send you a check. The worst thing a driver can do is cash it. Take the check to the repair shop of your choice and have them look at it. They can get additional money from the insurance company if needed.

Don’t rush! Remember you are the victim and there are available options a driver is entitled to. A lot of people want to settle fast to get their car back on the road. If you can’t drive your car, get a rental. The insurance company will have to provide or reimburse you for a rental car while your car is repaired. Remember that a rental car is only available to delays caused by the insurance company not you. If you are don’t get your car fixed or take too long they will not have to pay for the rental. In fact they may only have to pay for a rental while your car is in the shop. Contact your attorney for more details.
