Auto Insurance Excuses

Posted by: info | August 1, 2007

Talk to drivers who choose not to insure their vehicles and the excuses (not the truth) will come in full force. In fact, it would be very surprising to hear one driver provide a legitimate reason to justify not having auto insurance. Police officers hear weird, funny and outright dumb reasons for not having proof of auto insurance on a daily basis. Read some of the most common and bizarre excuses we have come across.

The most common reason reason for not having auto insurance is I can’t afford it. This is an excuse that don’t work because if you can’t afford auto insurance, you can’t afford to drive. Another popular excuse is the insurance canceled my policy without notification. Wrong! Insurance companies must notify policy holders of a possible cancellation. Most insurance companies give at least 2 weeks of notification. Insurance companies can’t make money without customers. A driver without insurance may also make up an excuse like, I didn’t know my policy expired. These people have been issued a new policy update, payment plan and much more notification about renewing their auto insurance.

Police officers are lied to on a daily basis. Drivers without insurance try and tell the officer that they don’t have their identification card with them. Many others say they have proof of auto insurance but can’t find it. There are others who tell the officer that they haven’t received their auto insurance cards yet. Many others show the officer an old policy. Police officers don’t buy these excuses and the judge will not either.

There is no good reason for a driver not to carry auto insurance coverage. The coverage can protect them financially and their vehicles well being. Auto insurance can protect damages to cars from accidents, mother nature, vandalism, theft and any other unknown damages.
