Hitchhiking is Illegal and Dangerous

Many drivers pick up hitchhikers on a regular basis without comprehending the complete dangers one might face. Many hitchhikers are really up to know good. I know there are certain situations a motorist may have to walk. However, hitchhiking is against the law and nobody should pick one up. Call the police department and let them know the situation, they will be better suited to deal with the hitchhikers needs. Find out some of the possible dangers of picking up one.
Many drivers have been robbed or injured by picking up hitchhikers. Sometimes these people feel as if they don’t have anything to lose. In this situation they can take belongings, over stay their welcome, rob or even hurt a driver. This is why law enforcement decided to make it illegal. I can’t think of any situation in which I would pick up somebody trying to hitch a ride illegally.
The same can be held true of a stranded motorist. However, these people do have a reason to be where they are and probably do have a sincere problem. You should also call the police for these motorist. In this situation you can call 9-1-1 and let them know of the stranded motorist and the exact location of the motorist.
Sometimes you can even see someone in an accident. It is against the law not to stop and render aide in this situation. Also if you are a witness to an accident you should report this as well. Again call the police if you see an accident and let them know if there are any injuries. The dispatch can call out the appropriate vehicles. Rendering aide doesn’t mean to put yourself in danger. If you are unable to help or don’t know what you are doing, just call the police. Don’t put yourself in harms way.
These are just some tips to help you maintain your safety. If you feel the situation is dangerous, than it very well could be. Call the police and ask for help in any situation. Picking up anyone on the street can be very dangerous and should be avoided at all cost.
